Shadow Self-portrait at Upheaval Dome, Canyonlands, UT
You may have noticed, I take a lot of pictures. I’m addicted to this 3-pound weight always hanging around my neck. If I’m outside, it’s with me and I’m always using it, come rain, shine or snow, and in all types of light.
At certain times of day, especially in the hour before sunset, keeping your shadow out of the frame becomes impossible. To hell with it; I wave and keep shooting. Here are a few of my favorite recent shadow-self portraits from the 4 Corners states:

Wilding Horses, NM

Goblin Valley, Utah

Kite Lake Campsite, Fairplay, CO

Scarp Ridge, Crested Butte, CO

Havasu Creek Meets the Colorado, Grand Canyon, AZ
